Avocet 1,2,3

Avocet I was the first prototype built for Yamaha and was the first boat built as a prototype for a consumer product. It used a uni rig for simplicity, but it did not perform very well. It was built by Bob Delong from RD Boat Works in Dana Point.

After a lot of debate we decided to make the second prototype with a biplane rig. Avocet II was a very nice boat. Dan and I built parts of it.

Avocet III was a refined version of Avocet II.
