Rudder Rake Adjust Knob
From Wiki
There are several noteworthy adjustments to critic here. The knob rotates to screw in and out the bullet that engages the fork on the rudder housing. My boat (#37) is set for maximum positive angle of attack. To accomplish this, the rudder must be in the down and locked position. Back the knob out until the rudder is tight against the casting. WARNING: This is dangerous, because it is effectively locked down and will not release, it MUST be screwed in until the bullet will release when the knob is lifted up as if to pick up the rudder. This position works for 90% of the time; your clue the rudder is too far forward will be the speedometer will suddenly drop to zero due to the water level being below the pitot tube. Or, you may experience a very slushy feel to the steering control.
Two more adjustments are the upper and lower limit stops to engage the bullet. Below is a picture of the proper contact for the knob when pushing the rudder down. This adjustment assists a quick line up of the fork automatically. Use pliers to bend the yoke up or down.
Let's say you are drifting backwards when the rudder is deployed, therefore you would be pulling up on the knob as you carefully lower it. (Never let the rudder slam down) The below picture shows the proper contact alignment for the bullet to the guide to engage the fork automatically. Use pliers to bend the yoke up or down.
