In excellent sailing condition
One sail marked 88 and the other sail marked 76
Sailed weekly every summer.

Late breaking news. My TF 88 bears hull number 167. Apparently the previous owner had a rig collapse (a.k.a Gravity Storm") related to a Sea Dog snap shackle failure on a rear stay. Bottom line, lots of stuff broke and a new hull was one of the items replaced. So I am not sure if this is really TF88 any more or if it should be billed as TF 167. Sail numbers are 76 starboard and 88 on port for those that spot me somewhere. Sail number 76 enters in the equation because the starboard #88 sail was one of the written off items in the rig collapse.

Hobie 18 Magnum

Decent shape and sailed weekly in the summers.
Best top speed 20.8 mph (2 up) just before a pitch pole that left me in a lot of pain for a few days.

Designed by Rod Macalpine-Downie who also designed Crossbow and Crossbow II. The Crossbows broke the outright sailing speed record five times.

Most frequent sailing venue is in St. Catharines Ontario at Port Weller. This is the exit of the Welland Canal into Lake Ontario. In the summer, there are at least 2 to 4 days each week when there is good foiling. Successful foiling on virtually every Sunday so far in the last 2 years.

The canal breakwalls extend just over a mile out into the lake and the lee can provide flat water in big winds. I usually sail on the west side from Municipal Beach as there are southwest winds often enough to favor this side with the better parking and facilities. At Municipal Beach, the boat launch ramp is right next to the beach and there is a large parking lot. The beach and shallows are fine sand.

Once or twice per season, I sail on the east side close to St. Catharines Marina. You can back the car onto Jones beach with the trailer. There is very limited parking at Jones beach for vehicles with trailers and no facilities. The good news is that I have never seen another boat launched while I was there. teh bad news is tthere can be weeds as wells as sludge. It can be a messy launch sometimes. Launching from the nearby marina is impossible for TF and risky with anything else that has no motor. Don't even think about entering the marina with your sail up.
